WELCOME!

A DAY ON PARADE is a web-based game exploring the collections of the San Diego Lambda Archives. One of the oldest and richest archives dedicated solely to queer history, the Lambda Archives has extensive physical and video collections from 1990s San Diego pride parades. A DAY ON PARADE draws extensively from these items and recordings, and spotlights a handful of the many queer groups, organizations, and communities that participated in 1990s parades.

You play as a somewhat exasperated friend of some participants in a pride parade, attempting to deliver the flyers they are meant to hand out. Along the way, encounter other participants, find posters and art, and collect vintage pride pins.

HOW TO PLAY:

A DAY ON PARADE is controlled entirely through the arrow keys (←↑↓→) and requires no other input.

Your avatar is controlled by use of all arrow keys.

Characters and posters can be interacted with by approaching them from an adjacent space, then pressing the arrow key again as if to talk to them.

  • tip: Read through the dialogue using a different arrow, to be sure not to make someone repeat themself!
